On Dec. 10th, 2014, Prof. Jiesheng Chen (Shanghai Jiaotong University) was invited to our school, and delivered lecture named “Electrode materials of the composite and multistage structure”.
In Prof. Chen’s report, he introduced the low conductivity of battery electrode materials, low ionic diffusion efficiency, structural changes during the charge and discharge process still restricts the development of high-performance batteries. By introducing the composite structure or a heterostrcture structure in the electrode material, it can increase the performance of cell electrodes. The three-dimensional carbon material which composite from the one- dimensional carbon fibers and two- dimensional graphene have fine electrocatalytic activity, which can be used into oxygen reduction reaction in fuel cell.
Prof. Chen is the dean of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University, the winner of National Outstanding Youth Fund, Distinguished Professor of Education Changjiang Scholars Program. He focuses on the inorganic synthetic chemistry and solid materials. Prof. Chen has published 260 papers in influential journals, such as Nature, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater, etc. He also obtained the 20 national invention patent. In 2011, he won the first prize of Ministry of Education Science and Technology (Natural Science). In 2013, he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
