On the morning of October 27, the appointment ceremony and lecture for Professor Evangelos Tsotsas, Dean of the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering at OvGU Magdeburg in Germany, as an adjunct professor at Jiangsu University were held in the lecture hall of the Energy Research Institute of Jiangsu University. Faculty and students from the Energy Research Institute attended the event. Professor He Zhixia, Dean of the Institute for Energy Research, presented the adjunct professor appointment letter to Dean Tsotsas and affixed the university badge. Dean He Zhixia welcomed Professor Tsotsas as a new member of Jiangsu University and expressed hopes for strengthened collaboration in talent cultivation, international project applications, and the establishment of joint laboratories. In his address, Professor Tsotsas noted that Jiangsu University is one of the earliest international partners of the OvGU Magdeburg, with a cooperation history spanning over 20 years. He expressed great pleasure in joining Jiangsu University and looked forward to deeper international collaboration and academic exchanges with the Energy Research Institute.

Following the appointment ceremony, Professor Tsotsas delivered an academic lecture titled "Developments in Drying and Particle Formation Over the Past 30 Years." He systematically reviewed the evolution of drying and particle formation research, which has expanded from single physical processes to multi-physical field coupling, gradually intersecting with disciplines such as multiphase flow, heat and mass transfer, electrochemistry, and materials. He elucidated the structure-property relationships among drying behavior, particle structure, and product performance. After the lecture, Professor Tsotsas engaged in thorough discussions with the attending faculty and students.

Professor Evangelos Tsotsas earned his doctorate in process engineering (with highest honors) from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany in 1985. In 1994, he was appointed as a full tenured professor at the University of Magdeburg. He has served as a Senior Process Expert at Dow Chemical, founding Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering at the University of Magdeburg, Chairman of the Review Committee for Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering at the German Research Foundation (DFG), and a member of the Central Committee of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. His research focuses on two core areas in process engineering: the structural regulation and functionalization of fluidized bed particulate materials, and heat and mass transfer in micro-nano porous media. He has innovatively developed multi-physical field coupling methods for micro-nano flow, heat and mass transfer, and chemical materials, as well as multi-scale simulation approaches (micro/meso/macro) and intelligent control pathways. To date, he has led over 80 research projects funded by organizations such as the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Bayer, and BASF, with total research funding exceeding 30 million euros. He has published more than 500 papers and serves as the editor-in-chief of the authoritative book series "Modern Drying Technology" in the field of international drying. In 2018, he was awarded the Arun S. Mujumdar Medal, the highest honor in the field of international drying.
