Colloquium (February 26, 2025)- Dr. Jiang Ying - How to Enhance the Scientific Value and Impact of Research Outcomes: A Case Study of Anaerobic Digestion for Biomass Energy Utilization
发布日期:2025-02-14 浏览:

Speaker: Dr. Jiang Ying
Date: February 26, 2025
Time: 09:30
Venue: Lecture Hall 1517, Energy Research Institute
Host Unit: Energy Research Institute

Speaker Biography:
Dr. Jiang Ying is a Chief Researcher at the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Research Center of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in the UAE, and a Biochemical Engineer. His research focuses on the production of sustainable low-carbon fuels and assessing their environmental impacts. Currently, he leads TII's bioenergy research projects, emphasizing fundamental reactions in the energy production process from biomass/waste through biochemical and thermochemical conversion pathways. This scientific exploration is crucial for addressing the demands of the bioenergy sector, enhancing the technical feasibility of biofuel production processes, ensuring consistent product quality, and improving reaction kinetics. Previously, he held senior academic positions at Cranfield University and the University of Southampton, and served as the UK Director of the Jiangsu University-Cranfield University Future Technology Graduate Institute.
Research Expertise: Fundamental reactions in energy production via biochemical and thermochemical conversion pathways.

Lecture Abstract:
Researchers, regardless of their career stage, are often asked about the value and impact of their projects. This question is particularly challenging for early-career researchers. Answering it requires a deep understanding of the research topic and careful consideration of its purpose and objectives. In this lecture, Dr. Jiang will discuss a previous research project aimed at addressing the challenge of treating high-ammonia feedstocks in the anaerobic digestion industry. Using this project as a case study, he will explore how to identify opportunities within research endeavors to maximize the value and impact of scientific outcomes.

All faculty and students are warmly welcome to attend!
