On April 8, the Energy Research Institute held the Wukesong Forum titled "Man-Made Yet Heaven-Inspired: Chinese Classical Gardens from an Aesthetic Perspective" in Lecture Hall 1517. The lecture was delivered by Peng Zhi, Associate Professor from the School of Marxism, a member of the Chinese Society of Aesthetics, and a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Association for Aesthetic Education in Universities. Over 60 students attended the lecture.

Professor Peng Zhi provided an in-depth analysis of the philosophical ideas and aesthetic spirit embedded in Chinese classical gardens, guiding students to appreciate their exquisite craftsmanship. From the concept of "harmony between man and nature" to the technique of "borrowing scenery to express emotions," his presentation revealed that gardens are not merely architectural landscapes but vivid embodiments of traditional culture.

During the lecture, Professor Peng Zhi also introduced major types of gardens, such as imperial gardens and private gardens. By comparing theories with real-world examples, including renowned gardens like the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou and the Summer Palace in Beijing, he offered students a more intuitive understanding.

After the lecture, the students expressed that they had gained a lot from the session, acquiring a fresh perspective on the aesthetics of Chinese classical gardens. They look forward to more opportunities to participate in such activities in the future to further enhance their cultural literacy.
