On November 20, at the academic salon activity of the Institute for Energy Research (IFER), Dr. Ma Wencheng in our institute made a report and summarized the research work in recent years, the relevant teachers of IFER listened to the report.

At the report meeting, Dr. Ma introduced the development of numerical simulation and their research status around the research topic of“Numerical simulation during the crystal growth process and their applications”. The previous part of the report introduced the thermophysical problems in crystal growth and the role of the numerical simulation during the crystal growth process. In the latter part of the report, the applications of numerical simulation during the growth processes for quasi-single crystalline silicon ingot, sapphire and titanium-doped sapphire single crystals were introduced. After the presentation, a heated discussion was continued with the present teachers.
　　Dr. Ma Wencheng was graduated from Xi'an Jiaotong University and obtained doctoral degree. He joined our institute from June 2019. In recent years, his research focused on silicon, sapphire as well as titanium-doped sapphire single crystal growth. He has published 6 research paper in related fields includingInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer、Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells、Journal of Crystal Growth. He is now chairing one youth program of national natural science foundation of China.
